Take your child to work day

Zoe and Zander got to see what it was like in the real work force.

Zander went with Daron to Embarq for the day ....

... and Zoe joined grandma Kathy at the VFW office.

Zander attended Daron's team meeting and some customer meetings. Since he attended meetings, Zander dressed in a nice suit like his father. Embarq had some additional activities for the visiting kids which Zander attended. In these activities they learned about computers and Embarq. Then the kids were tasked to help out the Embarq sponsored retirement community by creating cards. Zander helped out with this and had a really good time. When he came home I got to see his temporary badge (made special for him) and other neat little items he received during the day.

At VFW, Zoe was quickly put to work with the other visiting kids. They were active in collecting printouts...

stuffing envelops and stamping check dates,
and assisting on the PC.

After their day was done, each of the girls received a certificate of appreciation thanking them for all the help.
Both kids had a unique experience and enjoyed themselves. They did miss a 1/2 day at school but learned a lot about the workforce and became more aware of the busy lives of dad and grandma.

San Francisco

So when working in San Francisco, you have to visit some Grays. So, I did just that. :-)

Zoe's Plantation Sensation!

Zoe was learning about the civil war and life and times during that period. In their review, the students were told to select a project. Some options were 3D projects for a civil war re-enactment or plantation, create a quilt with activities of the period, civil war uniforms created, etc. Zoe elected to create the plantation. Since we had gone to the Hermitage and Carnton Plantations in Tennessee last year, Zoe had an idea of what they were like.
The teacher liked her work too. She received an A.

Zoe's Birthday

For Zoe's 11th Birthday, she asked to have some friends come for a bowling party.

She had lots of friends there (Adrianna, Bastian, Casey, Courtney, Kelly, Kelly, Lauren, and Parker). As you see there were a few boys added to the list. Since I was going to be there the whole time, I decided it was okay.

Zoe invited her brother Zander and let him bring a friend too.

We had the video games behind our bowling lanes too. So, when they weren't bowling.......
or chatting ....
they had the video game section to hang and play too.
She received some nice presents from her friends. Webkins doll, jewelry, purses, gift cards, and a Fish (with accessories) to name a few.
I was very glad the fish came with instructions, accessories, and assistance. Courtney is a seasoned fish lover so she comes over and helps out when she can.
Zoe macking with Bastian's hat!!!

Overall, it was a hit with her friends. Thanks for sharing.

Visits are fun!!!!!

My girlfriend Patti came out to visit for a weekend. Good wine, Good company, good times!

Daron's new toy

Daron bought his dad's truck and has made some cosmetic touches to make it his own. After returning from Florida, he decked out the windows with stickers from Ron Jon and Surf Co. He also had a kickin stereo for a jammin ride.
