Spring Break and Having Fun!

Spring Break and Having Fun!
That was our goal for the week off. The kids were off from school so we figured we would hit the beach. We took our babysitter Sam who seemed happy to join us. We had activities at the resort, beach walks, poolside fun, and other wonderful adventures. Check out some of our fun!

This was a jungle adventure visit to our resort. The kids got to hear about all the Florida animals and hold a few. Sam had fun with it too.

Some days were spent justing playing on the beach. One thing we say that was very different from our other trips were lots of stingrays along the shallow waters. With the tides going out, some of them got stuck on the sand so Daron and other brave folks grabbed a fin and put them back in the water so they could survive. I think it shocked the kids because ocean time was a bit less than prior years. :-)

Here is the Pier which is walking distance from our hotel. They had a temporary tattoo station and other tourist shops which we went and enjoyed. They also had lots of surfers practicing for the competion that started that Friday. All the kids got inked and looked stylin'.

Peter, Lisa, and the kids came out during some of the Florida trip too. We showed them some Cocoa sights and hung out at the beach and pool. It was nice because we had two babysitters (Anthony and Sam) to watch the kids so we the adults got to go out one night. NICE!

Of course, they did need some rest after watching the kids. Below is the babysitters taking a break!

Hot Tub fun!

The kids searched around and found some little creatures to play with.

Bathing beauties!

Pool time friends.
Zoe and Katie were together everywhere. We caught a few pictures of the girls.

Doing some hula hoop competition. They did pretty good
And check out the hair!

More chillin' at the pool.

We went on a boat excursion to see the Banana River and canals. We saw lots of different animals: an alligator, herons, manatees, dolphins, pelicans, other various birds, and a huge racoon. Zoe and Zander each got a chance to drive the boat with the captain's guidance. He was nature and science buff so Zander chatted about lots of interesting animal facts. I also enjoyed seeing some of the homes on the canal section. A few seen were Tom Hanks house and a mobster's home that was given to the girl scouts for a camp retreat (and still is today).

This manatee got really close so we got a few good pictures. We ended up seeing about 5 manatee. One of them rubbed up against our boat to knock off some barnacles. It was really shocking how much power they have. It was interesting how we found them too. We watched for their specific wave formation. It is actually a circle because their back fin is like a paddle that goes up and down.

We took in a Spring Training baseball game. Washington Nationals against the Dodgers. It was colder than we expected so we only spent the first 8 innings. And when I say colder that was relative to the weather in the area (70-80s). We got acclimated very quickly. :-)

Another excursion was to visit NASA. The view in the background is the shuttle launch section and we are standing at a mock launch pad to show what it is like.

Check out the power behind the rockets. SMILE!! Daron says you should be having fun. And it looks like Sam sorta is. :-)

Our little red martians (astronauts) and touching the moonrock. WOW! It is like we are there on the moon. Then they worked the motor vehicle on the moon. Not as easy as it looks.

Checking out the space station living.

My little astronaut.

On Saturday, we drove up to see the grandparents. It was nice to see them happy and healthy. I think they are sun lovers because we were outside chatting the entire time.

Sam was really wanting to drive the golf cart. Had she just had the license, grandpa would have let her. Instead, Daron took her around the Village community in the golf cart which is the regular form of transportation in the retirement community.

The week was wonderful.
